Incline Platform Lifts

WhatIstheElevateGlide?

The Elevate Glide is an incline platform lift — sometimes called an incline platform stairlift — that travels along a rail fixed directly to an existing staircase using a rack and pinion drive system. Unlike a conventional stairlift, which seats the user on a small fold-down chair, the Glide carries the user on a platform together with their wheelchair or mobility aid. No transfer out of the wheelchair is required.

The Glide is suitable for both straight and curved staircases — the rail is custom-fabricated to follow the exact profile of the staircase it is fitted to, with a minimum rail length of 500mm and a maximum of 35 metres, covering everything from a short domestic staircase to a long commercial flight.

Step Lifts

WhatIstheClassic1mSteplift?

The Classic is a step lift built around a hydraulically driven, scissor-frame platform, designed to provide access between two levels with up to one metre of vertical travel. As with the Executive, the pump unit is integrated within the lift itself rather than requiring a separate control unit location — reducing the risk of vandalism and keeping installation to around a day with minimal builders' work.

The Classic is rated for both wheelchair and ambulant users, with capacity for a user plus an attendant. It's designed to be robust and hard-wearing, suitable for both internal and external environments, and for domestic properties as well as public access buildings, manufactured by Pollock Lifts — a UK lift access specialist operating since 1983.

HowtheClassicWorks

The user approaches the lower level and boards the platform via the on-board ramp (or fixed ramp, if fitted) with their wheelchair or mobility aid, with an attendant if needed

  1. On Public Access models, the lower gate is closed manually before the lift is operated

  2. The single rocker switch is used to start the platform moving

  3. The integrated hydraulic pump drives the scissor-frame platform smoothly up to the next level

  4. The platform travels up to 1 metre to reach the upper landing

  5. The user exits at the new level; a manual emergency lowering system is available should the lift need to be lowered without power

HowtheElevateGlideWorks

The platform folds flat against the wall or stair when not in use — 300mm clearance on leg mount, 245mm on wall mount

  1. The user unfolds the platform and boards with their wheelchair or mobility aid

  2. The arm and safety barrier are lowered into position

  3. The user operates the controls and the platform travels along the rail via the rack and pinion drive

  4. The anti-jamming safety switch and brake system continuously monitor the journey

  5. The platform arrives at the top or bottom landing and the user exits

What is the maximum load capacity of the Classic 1m Steplift?

The Classic has a load capacity of 280kg, with capacity for a user plus an attendant.

What's the difference between the Classic and the Executive 1m Steplift?

Both share the same 280kg capacity and 1 metre travel. The Executive adds Adjacent Entry as a configuration option along with automatic gates and a wider range of controls, while the Classic is the more cost-effective option with a simpler standard specification.

What is the Bridging Steps configuration?

It's designed to span one, two or three existing steps using an 800 x 1400mm platform with an on-board ramp, rather than requiring a Through Entry or Pit Mounted installation.

Can the Classic be installed outdoors?

Yes. The Classic is designed to be robust and hard-wearing, suitable for both internal and external locations, with IP67-rated switching to protect the controls from water.

How long does installation take?

Pollock states a typical installation takes one day with minimal building work, and the unit can be relocated later if your needs change.

What warranty does the Classic come with?

The Classic comes with 12 months parts and labour as standard, with extended warranties of up to 5 years available covering service and maintenance costs.
