WhatIstheLiftakPlatformStairlift?

The Platform Stairlift is a rail-mounted incline platform lift that travels along a straight staircase using a gear-and-rack drive system, with the platform reel running directly on the rail. Despite the name, it is not a seated chair stairlift — the platform carries the user together with their wheelchair or mobility aid, with no transfer required.

The platform folds away against the wall or staircase when not in use, with an automatic ramp folding system designed to let the user disembark comfortably at the top of the stairs. The aluminium rail and rack, combined with a compact housing finished in RAL 9001 bright, are designed to sit discreetly within both contemporary and traditional interiors.

Lift Access Specialist

Is the Liftak Platform Stairlift suitable for curved staircases?

No. The Platform Stairlift is designed for straight staircases only. If your property has a curved staircase, speak to your installer about alternative incline platform lift options.

Can the Platform Stairlift be installed outdoors?

Yes. The Platform Stairlift is built with a fully galvanized chassis to prevent corrosion, a completely weather-resistant aluminium rail, and hermetically sealed platform boards to stop water ingress — making it suitable for permanent outdoor installation.

What is the maximum staircase length the Platform Stairlift can travel?

The official catalogue states a maximum travel of 40 metres, suitable for the vast majority of UK domestic and commercial straight staircases.

How loud is the Platform Stairlift during operation?

The operating noise level is rated below 70 dB(A), broadly comparable to normal conversation level.

Is a folding seat available for ambulant users?

Yes. A folding seat is available as an optional extra for users who do not require the full wheelchair platform.

What is the difference between standard and special platform inclination ranges?

According to the official catalogue, standard platforms support a staircase inclination of 18° to 35°. Special platforms — made to order — extend this range to 0° to 45°. Your installer will confirm which configuration suits your staircase during a site survey.
