Can the Elevate Glide be fitted to a curved staircase?
Yes. The Elevate Glide is available with a custom-fabricated rail designed to follow the exact profile of a curved staircase. A site survey is required to take precise measurements before the rail is manufactured.
What is the maximum weight capacity of the Elevate Glide?
The Elevate Glide has a load capacity of 225kg, covering the combined weight of the user and their wheelchair or mobility aid.
Does the Elevate Glide fold away when not in use?
Yes. The platform and arm fold flush against the wall or staircase, with a clearance of 300mm on the leg-mounted version or 245mm on the wall-mounted version, allowing the staircase to be used normally by other household members.
What is the maximum staircase angle the Glide can be fitted to?
The Elevate Glide supports rail angles between 16° and 33°, covering the vast majority of UK domestic and commercial staircases. Your installer will confirm suitability during a site survey.
Is a smaller platform available for narrow staircases?
Yes. In addition to the standard 800mm x 1,000mm platform, a smaller 700mm x 750mm platform option is available for narrower staircases or more compact wheelchairs.
What happens if there is a power cut while using the Elevate Glide?
The Elevate Glide operates from a 220V DC supply via four onboard batteries, allowing continued safe operation during a mains power failure. The integrated brake system also holds the platform securely in position if a fault is detected.
